Pfizer Canada is excited to announce that ABRYSVO®, its groundbreaking vaccine for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), has been selected for public funding in multiple Canadian provinces and territories for the 2025–2026 season. This significant development underscores the growing recognition of RSV's impact on older adults and the importance of proactive immunization strategies. ABRYSVO® will be publicly funded in several provinces, aligning with the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) recommendations to protect vulnerable populations. Ontario, in particular, will expand its RSV immunization program, offering ABRYSVO® as an option to safeguard infants from birth to their first few months. This expansion reflects the country's commitment to prioritizing RSV prevention and ensuring access to immunization for those at highest risk. Laura Tamblyn Watts, CEO of CanAge, emphasizes the often-overlooked severity of RSV, stating, 'Every step taken to protect vulnerable populations helps reduce hospitalizations and improves quality of life.' ABRYSVO® is a breakthrough, being the first and only RSV vaccine indicated for adults 18 years and older, and the only vaccine with a dual indication to protect both adults and infants through maternal immunization. Additional details regarding provincial implementation and eligibility criteria will be shared by individual provinces as updates become available. For those not covered by the public program, ABRYSVO® may also be accessible through private coverage.
