Prepare yourself for some shocking revelations in Emmerdale as the village grapples with a police investigation following the ominous death of the nefarious Ray Walters. Just days ago, viewers were privy to the details surrounding Ray's fate, but now it's time for the villagers to learn the startling news that he has been murdered. Their reactions will be crucial to watch, and we can expect a mix of emotions—though it’s hard to believe many will mourn his passing.
At the beginning of the week, an unidentified attacker was spotted dragging Ray's lifeless body through the village, sending shockwaves through the community. In a special crossover event titled "Corriedale," character Jai Sharma appeared completely unaware of the chaos lurking in his van, where Ray's body was concealed as he attempted to drive to Manchester.
As Moira Dingle ominously hinted at the end of this week’s episodes, buried secrets have a way of surfacing. The big question looms: how will the villagers react when they learn of Ray’s murder? It's unlikely that tears will flow for this villain.
1. Monday, January 12 (First Clip)
The first clip of the week showcases the villagers engaged in their daily routines, but there’s an air of suspicion hanging over some of them. With police vehicles racing into the village, one must wonder who should be feeling apprehensive.
2. Monday, January 12 (Second Clip)
Before long, the police arrive at Caleb Miligan’s depot, announcing their intention to thoroughly search the entire location and its vehicles. Both Caleb and Jai are visibly concerned about the ongoing scrutiny, fueled by rumors suggesting that their business may be linked to drug trafficking. As the detectives inspect the van that Jai was driving, the inevitable occurs: Ray's body is found! As law enforcement begins to sift through the vehicle logs to ascertain who operated the vehicle and when, Jai might find himself needing to provide a lot of explanations.
3. Wednesday, January 14
Later in the week, we find Laurel Thomas enjoying a quiet moment in the church before exiting to encounter Marlon Dingle. Marlon expresses remorse for not warning Laurel about Ray’s sinister nature when she initially began her relationship with him. He claims that his family was in too much danger to speak out, but Laurel is not convinced and rejects his justifications. In a somewhat cryptic remark, Laurel hints at the lengths she went to in order to remove Ray from her life, raising suspicions about what exactly she means by that.
What lies ahead for the residents of Emmerdale? The show's producers have promised that Ray’s killer will be unveiled before the month concludes. A special week focusing on flashbacks is on the horizon, aimed at delving into the motives of various suspects and revealing the truth behind the murder.
Laura Shaw, the show’s producer, stated: "After the discovery of Ray's body, hidden secrets among the villagers will begin to emerge, culminating in the resolution of the mystery surrounding Ray's death. Before January wraps up, we will air a special week dedicated to revisiting the night of the murder, ultimately disclosing which of the numerous suspects is culpable for Ray's tragic end."
Don't forget, you can catch Emmerdale on weeknights at 8 PM on ITV1, and stream it on ITVX.
