Jakarta's Battle Against Storm Hazards: A Tale of Aging Trees and Unpredictable Weather
In a bold move, Jakarta's Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has taken charge of a critical issue that threatens the city's safety. With recent high-velocity winds causing havoc, the governor has ordered a city-wide tree pruning operation, targeting aging trees as a preemptive measure.

"We consistently update the public about extreme weather, but we can't just blame the weather; we must prepare for it," Pramono emphasized. The government's success in forecasting a tidal flood 15 days in advance and issuing warnings for the Ancol whirlwind on December 12 highlights the need for better public response.
Despite the recent storms and tidal floods in North Jakarta, the governor assures that the city's emergency response teams have been swift and well-coordinated.
