Tanzania Unveils TAZARA Exhibition: Honoring Visionary Founders

Dar es Salaam: In a grand unveiling ceremony, Tanzania's Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, launched an extraordinary exhibition dedicated to the history of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA). This two-month showcase at the National Museum and House of Culture in Dar es Salaam aims to educate and inspire generations, shedding light on the remarkable leadership of Tanzania's founding fathers.

Dr. Kijaji emphasized the exhibition's role as a living classroom, offering a unique opportunity for people to understand TAZARA's profound impact on development and regional economic liberation. Built in 1970 with Chinese cooperation, TAZARA stands as a symbol of African-Chinese solidarity and a testament to successful infrastructure. It facilitates transportation between Tanzania, Zambia, and China, showcasing the power of international collaboration.

"This exhibition celebrates the achievements of our founders and their enduring legacy," Dr. Kijaji stated. "Under the guidance of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, we are preserving and building upon their vision."

The Minister also encouraged citizens to visit the exhibition, emphasizing its significance in honoring national heritage and fostering peace, dignity, and unity. The event was graced by the presence of the Chinese Ambassador, Chen Mingjian, and various diplomats, leaders, and citizens, all of whom were captivated by the historical drawings, publications, and collections on display, enhanced by traditional dance performances.

This exhibition is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices and vision that led to the creation of TAZARA, a project that continues to shape Tanzania's future. It invites all Tanzanians to appreciate their rich history and the contributions of their ancestors.
